One Shoe Untied

At first, it was just two brothers with a dream. Then, after years of searching for just the right sound, journeying on their own from Richmond to Waco to Chicago to Atlanta to Boise, and, finally, to Chattanooga, the Prevost brothers began to realize the vision.  At first the songs began with immersion-based, collaborative songwriting sessions with acoustic guitars, basses, harps or mandolins.  The ones that made the cut were transformed to fuzz-driven melodic sing-a-longs or any of a wide variety of rock approaches. First, they met up with Alan Dixon, a road warrior from Atlanta’s mid-nineties hardrock scene.  They thought of the material as organic with a technical side—and an edge.   Roots but with an alt-pop rock melody.  A power trio?  Whatever they called it, One Shoe Untied was born.  As a follow-up to the promising debut, Migration, the Prevost brothers remained restless.  They wanted to collaborate with other musicians, but also wanted to avoid the pitfalls that so frequently befall bands.  They developed the 13-week collaboration plan, invited several local musicians who were ready to commit to such an intense period of writing and recording, and just like that One Shoe Untied had morphed into a seven-piece band featuring two horns, double percussion, and the usual intricate-but-simple guitar hooks and lyrical phrasing.
